These seems like the zones of Golden Gate Park most frequently used for large concerts or festivals, and are mostly grass, no? Why is SF fencing them in for two weeks? Is it a festival? Is the money going to go back to maintencing the park?

Used to live right around the corner, SF is so close to my heart, I would be banner ticketing a ticker tape parade if they fenced it off permanant, but I know for a concert a few years ago they fenced off the fields and they had to pay some ridiculous fee for usage which almost entirely went back to the Park. . . .so. . . balance.

Like last year, Another Planet Entertainment plans to displace San Franciscans from Golden Gate Park. For about two weeks San Franciscans and visitors are getting kicked out of huge portion of GGP by a private entity so that it can make a profit. Chunks of time and space like this are going to add up quickly. Say good bye to Speedway Meadows and hello to the Walmart greeter ....
