Hi all,

I've been thinking as I have been washing vegetables that I pull from my garden - what is the best way to consciously do this? It's usually cold water that gets very dirty, yet I hate to wash it all right down the drain. b/c my garden is organic I'm not concerned of icky residues, but sometimes the things I get from stores and wash are not organic. What is the most useful way, other than flushing my toilet with the water, to re-use this water?

Thanks for your ideas!

send the residue water back to the grower with a note...perhaps a note like this:

I purchased your chemical-laden produce and did my best to wash off the exterior residue. I'm sure you have a program to properly dispose of the toxic waste you produce, so I am sending this tainted water to you so it can be properly disposed of. In the future, perhaps it would be more economical for your company to grow food that will be eaten by other humans without the use of harmful chemicals, considering the high cost of toxic waste removal and the high cost of health insurance when said humans get cancer.
