Where to buy Wind Turbine for home?
I've seen all kinds of websites discussing all kinds of renewable energy etc but where in the hell is one suppose to go to purchase a wind turbine for ones own home? And can one buy a "do it yourself kit"? to save some money? I just want to put an order in for what I need & be done with it.
What are the storage cell options? Do they freeze in winter - what's the deal there? And what does the maintenance consist of? Can I do that myself too?

Re: Where to buy Wind Turbine for home?
Mon, January 5, 2009 - 11:12 AMHi Rocky,
I really depends on what you're trying to accomplish (how much of your power you wish to generate), where you live and other factors.
I have a bunch of wind information at www.sunburner.com/inside/Wind, the site is still in development and I have a bunch of new content to add so it's pretty general but you may find it useful (if you check back in a few weeks there should be a lot more relevant info).
You can find some good consumer information (assuming you are in the US) at www.windpoweringamerica.gov/smal....asp, they also host seminars around the country to help you define your needs.
As for DIY stuff, there is a pretty comprehensive article at www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It-...d.aspx, it's a bit outdated but may help you. Also, this article details parts and instructions for creating a homebrew wind turbine www.thebackshed.com/windmill/fp2a.asp.
Finally, a few additional links that may provide you with additional information are www.windustry.org/your-wind...wind-proje and www.awea.org/smallwind/.
I hope that helps and good luck with your project!
